On Exercise Hiatus

This is the Holy month of Ramadan and I am fasting. From 6:20am to 7:40pm, I will not drink or eat anything. The first couple of days were rough for me because I have not fasted in the last 5 years. But this year I was moved to do so, and I am feeling like I made the right decision. Each time a voice has told me to drink or eat something, Al-Hamdulillah, I resisted. Hopefully, this Ramadan will mark a re-commitment to my faith and to me being a better person.

  2. Elizabeth,

Thank you. I know that I am doing the right thing by fasting this year. I have never been a bad person, but I have drifted from my faith and not been the best person I can be. Therefore, when the inspiration hit me to fast this year, I accepted it.

  3. Will,
Thanks so much for sharing your experience here. I think it's critical to remember that our practices with food and exercise are linked to our spiritual selves. Wishing you the best.
