Hi there! My name is Greta, I’m an English as a second language teacher from Buenos Aires, Argentina. I joined twitter in 2007, but I've been tweeting for about three months. I’m really amazed by its power. Not only do I have an awesome PLN, but also a motivational team! I can’t ask for more! I’m so thrilled about #temt. It’s exactly what I needed!
It’s winter here, and to be honest, it’s the perfect excuse for me to avoid working out. I keep making up excuses such as: I’m too tired, I have to do some planning or grading, the weather is cold… and the list goes on! I don’t want to put on any pounds this winter, so I’d better start working out ASAP!
My goal is to work out for 45 minutes at least 4 times a week. I want to set a realistic goal, by realistic I mean “do-able”, I strongly believe that’s the best way to start. We tend to feel a great sense of achievement when meeting goals, and this will definitely encourage me to go for more. Quoting Mark Twain, “The secret of getting ahead is getting started”…
What about you? When are you getting started? How are you planning to do it? I’d love to hear your stories.
Greta, I am so thrilled to see your post! It truly has been so motivating for me as well to connect with others here who want to commit to their health. My goal is a lot like yours: 45 minutes at least 4 times per week. I vary my workouts between using an elliptical, running, tae bo (cardio kickboxing) and doing squats and crunches. I need to add some weight training as well. By talking to others on Twitter last week, I exceeded my goal and worked out 5 times! I know it's tough being winter there so I hope we can add a little sunshine and encouragement for you!
ReplyDeleteGreta - I'm pretty new to Twitter as well and am amazed by what I've gained from it.
ReplyDeleteMy goals are similar as well. 30 to 45 minutes of exercise at least 4 days a week. I started last Thursday and have actually exercised each day. All have been walking, but I plan to add some strength training. I have a book that provides strength training exercises per day. It alternates between upper body one day and lower body the next. I need to dig that back out (as well as the weight bench and handheld weights).
I love how Twitter is connecting us from all parts of the world. Exercising in winter is hard, yet I know I got tons of it last winter. We had heavy snow fall in Iowa. I seemed to be shoveling everyday! Don't miss it - but know it will be our turn soon. As the world turns...
Hi Greta!
ReplyDeleteNice to see you writing here! I especially love the Mark Twain quote - very inspiring!
I am thinking of joining the local gym. I hope I can exercise as often as you are planning to - until then, I walk a lot (and I do walk a lot!) and take the stairs anywhere I go.
Great post Greta and it is so great to see that even though we are all far away from each other, we all inspire and support each other!
Kindest regards,
Vicky
Hi Greta,
ReplyDeleteI'm going to join the gym and hopefully do step classes twice a week. there was a time when I went to the gym five times a week for an hour each time.
Yesterday when I got out of bed I realised that I'd pulled something only sleeping. Time to get back to gym.
Thanks
Leahn
Thanks a lot for sharing your stories and posting your comments on my post.
ReplyDeleteI was really happy this morning when I woke up and read them!
Hope you all achieve your goals! It's great to know we're in this together. I'm sure you'll be adding sunshine to my winter, and I hope to add some to yours in a few months!
Go #tempt!
